Screenshot Tool

// CAPTURE • CROP • EXPORT

Fast capture and cropping. Not a measurement tool, not a redaction tool, and not evidence. Everything runs in your browser and no image is uploaded. What the frame contains is whatever was on your screen, including notifications, other windows, file paths and anything behind the thing you meant to capture. Look at the frame before you send it. Open for the full scope limits.

Local processing

All processing happens in your browser. No images are uploaded to any server, and nothing is stored between visits. This tool is for fast capture and cropping.

Check the frame before you share it

The capture is whatever the browser handed over, not what you were looking at. The things that most often end up in a shared screenshot by accident:

  • A notification or toast that arrived during the capture.
  • Other windows, browser tabs, the bookmarks bar, and open panes behind the one you wanted.
  • File paths, usernames, machine names and account names in title bars, tabs and status bars.
  • The whole desktop, including a second monitor, if you shared a screen rather than a window or a tab.

Cropping removes what falls outside the crop. Anything inside it is exported exactly as captured, and there is no blur, pixelation or redaction feature on this page. To remove something within the frame, crop it out or edit the image somewhere else.

Not a measurement tool

  • No perspective correction, no calibration, no curve digitization. Always validate any downstream measurements.
  • Pixel coordinates are display pixels, affected by device pixel ratio, browser zoom and the scale the capture was granted at. They are not a stable unit.
  • JPEG and WebP exports are lossy. Measuring an exported image measures the compression as well as the content.

Not evidence

A screenshot carries no authenticated timestamp, no provenance, no hash and no chain of custody, and it is trivially editable. This is not a forensic capture and it does not establish that anything appeared on any screen at any time.

Performance limits

The frame is held in this tab's memory. For large images, above roughly 20 megapixels, use a smaller export scale; a large capture can be slow, fail, or take the tab down with it.

Never use this for

  • Evidence in legal, forensic, HR, disciplinary or investigatory proceedings.
  • Redacting sensitive information before publication or disclosure.
  • Measurement that feeds a decision, a design or a published figure.
  • Capturing screens containing regulated data, including protected health information, cardholder data or personal data, on a machine or account you do not control.
  • Clinical or diagnostic imaging of any kind.

Grab a clean screenshot

Capture your screen, freeze a frame, crop precisely, and export PNG/JPEG/WebP. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Input

Screen capture requires HTTPS (or localhost). Use Ctrl+V to paste from clipboard.

Status

Large image detected. Consider downscaling on export for better performance.

Crop

Drag to create a selection. Drag inside to move. Drag corners to resize. Space+drag to pan. Scroll to zoom. Arrow keys nudge (Shift=10px).

Export

Look at the export before you send it. The frame contains whatever was on screen, including notifications, other windows and file paths, and there is no blur or redaction on this page. Cropping removes only what falls outside the crop. This is not a measurement tool and not evidence.
